Preveza
The city of Preveza is built at the entrance of the Amvrakikos Gulf. It is located on the ancient Berenice site, founded by the king of Epirus, Pyrrhus, in 290 BC. The city was created at the end of the 11th century, after the desolation of ancient Nikopolis. In its history, it met many conquerors until its incorporation into the Greek state in 1912. It is 360 km northwest of Athens (via Pius-Antirrio) and around 350 km southwest of Thessaloniki (via Ioannina – Kozani – Veria).
Preveza has beautiful landscapes, lush nature, enchanting beaches, rich history, and monuments and offers many holiday options. Stroll through the harbor and historic center with its beautiful traditional buildings, walk along the island-like coastal promenade, and try local delicacies in one of the quaint taverns and cafes you will find in the narrow cobbled streets of the city.
